Helping to shape the future of transit
Preserving and evolving the invaluable service of public transit is crucial to communities, now and for decades to come. As our governor and state legislature continually make tough decisions on policy and funding priorities, maintaining a strong, united voice for public transit at all bureaucratic levels is a necessity. The California Transit Association is that voice.
What our advocates do
Our team of legislative advocates promote multiyear transit funding and represent transit's interests before the California State Legislature, the governor and regulatory agencies at the local, state and federal levels. We are champions, collaborators, thought leaders, and partners intently focused on three key initiatives:
- Directing the creation of transit-friendly policy
- Protecting and increasing transit funding
- Supporting a balanced transportation system
Our yearly priorities are guided by the state and federal legislative programs that are developed in consultation with our State and Federal Legislative Committees, and subsequently approved by the Executive Committee.
Power in numbers
We’re most effective when our more than 240 member organizations are informed and involved. That’s why we frequently update our members on policy developments and enlist their help with numerous outreach efforts, including personal visits with elected officials, testifying before legislative committees and regulatory agencies, and conducting media relations campaigns.
