Fall Conference & Expo

Join Us in Ontario, CA in 2022

This fall the California Transit Association and Sacramento Regional Transit District convened the 56th Annual Fall Conference & Expo, presented by Proterra. Please save the date for our 57th Annual Fall Conference & Expo, hosted by Omnitrans, which will be held November 16-18, 2022, in Ontario, CA. We are currently accepting bids for Presenting Sponsor.

This year's theme was Embracing Change: New Era. New Vision. We were thrilled to bring together transit champions and advocates from across California to reimagine public transit in a post-pandemic era and ensure our industry emerges stronger, more equitable and resilient than ever before. Recordings from the event are available to attendees for viewing via the Socio app and web platform.

Among our special keynote speakers was nationally recognized thought leader on the equitable and sustainable revitalization of communities, Smart Growth America President and CEO Calvin Gladney. We also heard from change agent, anthropologist planner and the Founder and CEO of Thrivance Group, Dr. Destiny Thomas, who explored the inequities embedded in our transportation infrastructure and services and the opportunity for healing through community engagement.

A panel of top industry leaders – including Executive Director of the Mineta Transportation Institute Karen Philbrick; Founder of the Introducing Youth to American Infrastructure ("Iyai+") Dr. Beverly A. Scott; Interagency Policy Specialist - Equity, Climate, and Jobs of the California Workforce Development Board Shrayas Jatkar; and CEO and General Manager of SunLine Transit Agency Lauren Skiver – addressed the significant workforce gap challenging the future of public transit and how to meet growing talent needs, while furthering larger societal objectives related to equity, sustainability, and job quality.

California Governor Gavin Newsom and U.S. Senator Alex Padilla delivered special recorded addresses, touching on their respective efforts to support the public transit industry. And, special thanks to Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg for the warmest welcome to the capital of California.

We look forward to seeing you in Ontario next year!
