In 1989, the San Luis Obsipo Regional Transit authority was formed, and Runabout was incorporated into RTA (the original operating name was "Central Coast Area Transit"). In 2011, all services provided by SLO County (operating as "SLO County Area Transit") were consolidated into RTA. In 2014, all Paso Robles Express services were consolidated into RTA. All services are currently provided using RTA employees (since 2009; previously contracted).

Major Planned Investments
Currently in a leased operations/maintenance facility. Just purchased six acres to construct a $9 million facility. Our current lease ends in 2022, so that it is our target date to complete the facility. We are also in the planning stages for a consolidated passenger facility that initial estimates suggest will cost on the order of $12 Million.
